Theory/Model details. (MORE INFO)
The Diffusion of Innovation Theory (IDT) was founded in the area of sociology, and was popularized by Rogers (1962, 1983, 1995, 2003). Rogers synthesized a large number of studies in the field of diffusion, in the fields that initially influenced the theory: anthropology, early sociology, rural sociology, education, industrial sociology and medical sociology. With the synthesis accomplished, Rogers produced a theory of the adoption of innovations between individuals and organizations (Rogers, 1962).
